Sing My Speech: You Write The Words, I Sing Them

Sing My Speech: You Write The Words, I Sing Them

Every now and then, someone asks me for something a little different.

Recently, I had a lady get in touch with a fun idea for an upcoming wedding. She had written her own lyrics to a well known song, with the words changed to suit the bride and groom. The lyrics were funny, personal, and gently poked fun at the happy couple as part of a wedding speech.

At first, we recorded the song with her singing the lyrics herself. But after listening back, she decided she wasn’t quite happy with how it sounded.

So I recorded the vocal instead.

The end result worked really well. She was happy, the lyrics came across clearly, and the whole thing suddenly felt like something that could make a wedding speech even more memorable.

That got me thinking.

Introducing: Sing My Speech

I’m now looking at offering a new personalised recording service called Sing My Speech.

The idea is simple:

You write the words. I sing them.

If you have written your own funny, heartfelt, cheeky or personal lyrics to a song for a wedding, birthday, anniversary, retirement or special event, but you don’t want to sing it yourself, I can record the vocal for you.

You provide the lyrics and the song idea, and I record a custom vocal version you can play during your speech, slideshow, surprise moment or celebration.

Perfect For Weddings And Special Events

This could work really well for:

Wedding speeches
Best man speeches
Maid of honour speeches
Birthday roasts
Anniversaries
Retirement parties
Engagement parties
Family celebrations
Surprise videos
Special event speeches

Let’s be honest, not everyone wants to stand up in front of a room full of people and sing. Some people would rather wrestle a crocodile in formalwear.

But playing a recorded version during a speech? That can be a lot less stressful, and a lot more polished.

You Supply The Lyrics

To keep things simple, this is not a lyric writing service.

You write the lyrics.
You choose the song idea.
You send me the words.
I record the music and the vocal.

I may let you know if something doesn’t quite fit naturally, because sometimes lyrics can have too many syllables or feel awkward against the melody. But the words themselves come from you.

That way, the song stays personal. It sounds like your humour, your memories, your stories and your message.

I’m just the voice that helps bring it to life.

Funny, Sweet Or A Full-Blown Stitch-Up

The song can be whatever suits the moment.

It might be a heartfelt tribute to the bride and groom.
It might be a funny birthday roast.
It might be a retirement send-off.
It might be a cheeky family joke that only half the room understands, while the other half laughs because everyone else is laughing.

That’s the beauty of it. It can be as sweet or as silly as you want.

Of course, I’ll always reserve the right to say no if something crosses the line. Funny is great. Personal is great. Cruel, nasty or defamatory is not the vibe.

A Memorable Moment Without The Nerves

Speeches can be hard enough on their own. You’re trying to be funny, emotional, organised and calm, usually while holding a microphone and hoping Uncle Barry doesn’t heckle from table seven.

A custom recorded song gives you another option.

You can introduce the moment, press play, and let the song do the work.

It gives the room something unexpected, something personal, and something people are likely to remember long after the speeches are over.

Private Event Use

These recordings are intended for private event use only.

If you plan to use the recording publicly, online, in a video, commercially, or anywhere outside a private event setting, additional music licensing or permissions may be required depending on the song and how it is used.

That side of things is important, and it’s something to consider before sharing or publishing the recording beyond the event itself.

Want Me To Sing Your Speech?

If you’ve written your own lyrics for a wedding, birthday, anniversary, retirement or special event and you’d like a recorded vocal version, this might be perfect for you.

Send me your idea, your lyrics and the song you’ve based it on, and I’ll let you know if it’s something I can record.
